A Tiny Fig!

I can hardly wait for fig season! Some years, the first figs ripen around my mid-summer birthday; other years, a few weeks before.

We grow black mission figs that ripen to a deep purple with a bright purple interior and so many of those tiny, crunchy seeds!

The ripe figs are favorites of cardinals, so usually, I’ll pick them early and let them finish ripening in a paper bag in the cabinet above the stove.

Figs, walnuts, and Ceylon cinnamon, with a cup of Indian green tea! We are privileged, indeed.
