A Simple Yellow Pansy

Spring and pansies go together in the desert.

I plant pansies in late fall or early winter. They’re annuals here–I’ve never been able to get pansy plants to last through the summer heat. June’s succession of days above 100 degrees usually does them in.

But while they bloom, they’re cheerfully abundant!

This year, I planted purple and yellow pansies, and the yellow ones have bloomed so happily! Thank you, pansies, for a bright spot of spring.
