Kale Crop

I love kale! We eat so much of it. Most of the kale we eat comes from the co-op, grown locally when possible, sometimes, right from the co-op’s garden. This year, we have a big, vibrant crop in our garden.

I planted this bed on New Year’s Day, and the kale sprouted quickly during the warm winter. I sowed the seeds very densely in a compost-enriched soil. A few lettuce seedlings and many volunteer morning glories are growing in with them.

The kale leaves are tender, sweet, bitter, and delicious, great raw or sauteed with onions and garlic!
