On the first day of April, the iris bloomed. We may only get this one stalk of iris blossoms this year which makes this one ever more worth noting.
These irises came from rhizomes that were here when we moved in. I divided them and spread them throughout the garden.
Currently, the cluster of ten good-sized plants in the center of the garden at the base of an acacia are the last remaining. Maybe in the fall, I’ll divide them and plant some in the east border.
Whenever I see them, I imagine being a bumblebee and following those purple arrows into the nectar-rich center then emerging covered in orange pollen!
