Butterflies

Got Milkweed?

The next time I head to the nursery, which I hope will be within the next few weeks, I’m buying milkweed. I want to by at least ten plants!

You see, the monarch butterflies need milkweed. It’s the food plant for their caterpillars. Because milkweed has become increasingly scarce in the U.S., many butterfly-lovers are planting milkweed in their gardens.

Just be sure to plant native species so as to not accidentally introduce more problems.  You can learn more about how to create habitat for monarch butterflies through Monarch Joint Venture.
